Line-Drawn Floral Cookies

I had used grey(silver) lines for my "coloring in" technique, but this time I tried black lines. I knew this from the beginning, but black lines give strong contrast. I tried to keep the lines as thin as possible because the design is rather detailed and thick lines would leave less areas to be colored in.

The designs of these round cookies are inspired by the book by Nao Sakamoto. There are so many beautiful designs in this book.

It's hard to achieve the similar look as the illustrations in the book with piped icing. I’ll have to use a fine tip edible marker, which is not available here in Japan.


By the way, there are only about 50 days to the Tokyo Olympic Games. Can you believe this? We still don't know if they have audience/spectators. I've been wondering why we couldn't make all the required decisions sooner. It might not be right to use the subject "we" because we can't make decisions but it's OUR problem because we are Tokyo citizens. 

Like many other Japanese people, I've never been for the Olympics in Tokyo, or any city in Japan.  Some people who wanted the Olympics said it would give us hopes, dreams and courage to people suffering from the huge damages by the earthquake. Don't you think it's rude to say this to people who don't still have a proper home to live? Abe, the prime minister of that time said "the nuclear power plant in Fukushima is completely under control," but most of us knew it's all bullshit. The idea of having a full marathon race in Tokyo in midsummer is absolutely crazy but they ignored the fact. In the end, they had to change it to Sapporo in Hokkaido, a northern cool area. And now this...

The Olympics minister recently said they would restore the bonds severed by the corona pandemic, but many of us were disgusted to hear it. How?! We are sick of those empty words...
